Contemporary music or modern music is generally considered any music from the 1950’s to present day. Modern music is generally based on originality and artists are constantly trying to push the envelope with new sounds and experimentation. From the early 1950’s and a generation that first brought us Rock and Roll to the Country music of the 70’s to Pop music of today. The sounds and emotions of music today are like no other time. There is greater variety than ever before. Today you can listen to any type of music and any genre no matter what you’re searching for.
Below is a classic Doo Wop ballad from the Diamonds called “She say (Oom Dooby Doom)” release in 1959.
Emmanuel, believe it or not this song came out the year I was born. I love listening to music from the 50's. I grew up in the 70's and my favorite band is the Eagles. Although they are actually considered classic rock they also are considered to be country/rock. I believe based on your post they are also contemporary. I think music made from 1950 through the late 1970's is the best music. I will never get tired of listening to songs like the one in your video and songs by the Eagles like Hotel California. Thanks for the great post. Mary Ann Reday.
ReplyDeleteI don't really like this song, but I get the point. I do like some oldies (like Hotel California, mary ann). Nothing against it, but we can see how the younger generation differs. I'm sure the kids born after 2000 will have a different view on the songs we like as young adults when they turn our age.
