Here is a list of chinese instruments.

Music is an important part of Chinese way of life. Confucius, a Chinese philosopher, taught the Six Arts: ritual, music, archery, chariot riding, calligraphy, and computation. He said the second most important was music. It's said, where ever Chaozhou move, they take their music heritage with them.

  1. While I'm mostly cambodia, my grandmom is half chinese and she has one of those instruments (the banjo-esque one. the ehru/zhong hu)in her room. Granted it's pretty broken/too old to be used but I asked her about it and she mentions that she was the only one in her village to own any type of musical instrument.

  2. Music is an important way of life; it is a form of expressing feelings and emotions. It’s unique how every culture has their own different instruments but they are all for the same purpose, entertainment and to express themselves. No matter how great technology becomes, that will always be true.

  4. This just goes to show how important music is. It's an essential need in everyone's life. Different cultures have different views on music, so it's interesting to see how Chinese people interpret this. I know where I'm from there are mostly different types of guitars, with many strings. Music is important to everyone, no matter where they're from.
    Cool post!

  5. Confucius was not only a philosopher but also one of the most influential people in China. He created a complete ideological system named Confucianism that prevailed in a federal society and has lasted for 2000 years. As a result, Confucius’s ideas affected the development of the country significantly. This thinker was introducing moral values through the appropriate use of ritual and music. He believed that music and poetry are essential elements in the formation of human’s character that give a new understanding of things and more topics to talk about; they also help to succeed in everyday life.

  6. i am amazed to see early instruments are pretty close to ones today. A lot more simple and probably played only a couple notes, but really amazing. I doubt many of the artist today, really rely on music to relay what they are feeling, but rather how they feel about money in their pocket.
