The true intention of music of the past
The world has been changing from the time known to man and so has music too. Music of ancient time were more of a general and holistic emotions of an entire people which depicts society sentiments about the conditions of the community in which they lived. In today's world most music shows our carnal desire as compared to music that shows expression about an entire community. morden music cares about personal emotions; it talks about brake ups, gangs, wars, sexual emotions violence, etc. while early music was concerned about the general feelings about an entire community and not individual.

I can totally agree with your post. How often does our society relate a song to an occurrence or event? People tend to relate music to a specific life changing event,such as a wedding song, or the first dance, happy times and sad time, or what you were doing with someone at a particular time. Music is part of our daily lives, it is very expressive on an individual level, amd it can also be the ties for a very large social gathering such as Sunday services at church.
ReplyDeleteDoyle, I agree with your post. Artist in our society are always reffering to events which happen in our society in their music. An example would be good times, bad times, love, and more. Music is part of my life and everyone elses. It has a lot of emotion in it and people try to get their point across too.
ReplyDeleteDoyle, I totally agree with your post. Music has always been,and still is, a way for people to tell stories about things that are happening, or have happened, in their lives. If you interview most musicians, in a lot of cases, they say their music is based on a life experience or written about someone in particular in their lives. Music definitely shows emotion and has made many great contributions to art. Mary Ann Reday.,
ReplyDeleteI agree for the most part about your statement in reference to today's current music. I feel that many artists' use their lyrics to express their own personal life experiences ex. a rapper having a song about his rags to riches story or a pop star singing about the first time she fell in love. The individual artists all know take their own personal life stories and use it as the "body" of their art.
ReplyDeleteOur society is very complex,we are constantly evolving because of new technology. Therefore it is only natural that our social problems have become more complex.Many artist's write and sing about the issues that affect this society. And this has drastically changed the quality of music. Yet their are still artist's today that create music that empowers and provide hope to communities that are in despair.
